Review of Trio – Clean and Lean Detox

Dr Sandra Cabot’s Liver and Gut Detox

My partner and I recently finished a 21 day detox from Dr Sandra Cabot. It was a liver and gut detox.

Inside the box that you see in the picture there is 21 satchets each for Superfood, Gut Repair and Alkalanise Cleanse.

There was a great recipe book that came with it, detailing foods to avoid and foods to eat and some great recipes and menu planning for the full 21 days.

We started out great, following to the menu planner and taking all the satchets.

By day 3 I was experiencing headaches however they went by the next day.
We continued along however by day 5 or 6 we were so busy in and out of the house sticking to the menu become somewhat challenging however we did the best we could.

By day 7 we measured and weighed ourselves, I had already lost 1.7kg and 3cm off my hips. My partner lost 3.1kg and 4cm off his waist and 2 cm off his hips.  We started to feel great and drank lots of Healthier Water during the process.

By day 14 I had skipped, by accident and being busy, some of the satchets mainly from lunch and bed time. It still worked though.

By day 14 I had now lost 1.8kg, not much more and 1cm off my waist and 5cm off my hips. My partner had now lost 3.6kg to date, 6cm off his waist and 4cm off his hips.

By now following the meal planner for us went out the window, although we did stick to not eating as many of the foods we weren’t meant to as much as possible. The only naughty we did, was at my nieces 21st birthday, I had two apple ciders to celebrate. Even though she had some junk foods at her birthday, I’m grateful that she is also a vegan and so her cake was a chocolate gluten free cake that she made, she had some natural crackers and some homemade dips and a yummy gluten free brownie which we indulged in. Not too bad for our first detox.  For me it was really hard letting go of milk and so most, however not all, of my smoothies were with normal milk and not almond milk or coconut milk. Perhaps I will do much better next time.

By day 21 I had lost 4.8kg, 6cm off my waist and 7cm off my hips. My partner lost 6kg, 7cm off his waist and 6 cm off his hips.

I had a few of those missed satchets left over, so kept going after the 21 days til they’re used up and I’m feeling great.

I was really happy with our first attempt and the results we achieved and the toxins that we could literally see and feel come out of our bodies.  It would definitely be something I would do at least twice a year. Once to start the year and again in July.

Dates

Today we look at “D” for Dates – great for ovaries and pancreatic cells.

Dates are an excellent source of potassium and a good source of iron and calcium. High in fiber.

Dates are one of the oldest cultivating trees and have been growing in Borth Africa for at least 8,000 years.

They are the sweetest of all the fruits having higher potassium level than bananas and oranges. They also contain iron, niacin, vitamin B6 and fiber.

The Medjool dates are from Morocco – great for snacking on or stuffing with your favourite filling such as cheese, pecans, cream cheese or peanut butter.
The Halawi Dates are from Iraq – rich creamy sweet flavour and caramel like texture.
The Khadrawy Dates are from Iraq – small and dark with dry flaky skin – high moisture content, less sugar and a mild flavour.
The Deglet Noor Dates originate from Algeria and are slightly nutty flavour not as sweet as other varieties and great to snack on.

Cherries

Let’s review “C” – Cherries – Great for the heart, blood, capillaries and pain remover.

Sweet and tart cherries date back to 300BC. In 1852, the “Cherry capital of the world” was started when the first cherry orchard was planted near Traverse City in Michigan.

Cherries are great for making pies, juices and jams. Sweet cherries are great for eating straight off the stem.

They contain flavinoids, fiber, potassium and traces of Vitamin A and C.

Soothes Arthritis and Gout
Cherries can relieve pain. WOW can you believe that twenty cherries were tested and believed to have as much effectiveness as other pain killing remedies including asprin, ibuprofen and nonsteroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs. For pain relief – eat a bowl of cherries.

Cherries are your key to falling asleep and into the land of nod. Melatonin a hormone that helps you sleep is found inside cherries. It might be a good idea to have a bowl of cherries on hand. Melatonin acts either as a direct sleep-inducing substance. Eating them just before going to bed will give you the most benefit.

Bananas

Let’s review “B” – The Banana – great for penile function, builds blood volume, bones & muscle.

It blocks diarrhea, controls blood pressure, protects heart, quiets a cough, strengthens bones and so much more.
There are 500 varieties of bananas. Great for people feeling depression. If you happen to have too much to drink – make a banana milkshake with honey, great for avoiding morning sickness. What about a mosquito bite – before you reach for that tube of cream – grab a banana skin and rub the inside of the skin on the bite – reduces swelling and irritation.


Bananas calm the nervous system. Girls – If you suffer from PMS – eat bananas – it regulates blood glucose levels which can affect your mood.

Want to give up smoking – then make sure you have a handy supply of bananas on hand – it helps the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Want to eliminate any warts – place a piece of banana skin yellow side up and tape in place.

What about some yummy natural banana ice cream – 2 bananas 1/2 cup raw or soy milk and 1 Tbsp of honey (optional) – put it all in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy or leave some small chunks in there. Yummo and enjoy

If you’re juicing non-organic produce, you’re just poisoning yourself with a pesticide cocktail

WARNING: If you’re juicing non-organic produce, you’re just poisoning yourself with a pesticide cocktail

Juicing

(NaturalNews) I have an important warning today for all those people who are poisoning themselves to death by juicing non-organic produce: STOP what you are doing and think for a minute about how juicing really works.

Juicing is an extraction technology that pulls liquids and nutrients out of fresh produce items like apples, carrots, celery and greens. One of the things I’ve learned as the lab science director of CWC Labs is that most pesticides are water soluble, meaning they are extracted with the juice and stay in the juice until you drink it.

A glass of fresh juice made from non-organic fruits and vegetables is a glass of pesticide juice.

Juicing removes the very plant fibers that can protect you against pesticides and heavy metals

Even worse, consider the fact that juicing, by definition, removes all the plant fibers, leaving behind just the absorbable liquids. Plant fibers actually block toxic pesticides and heavy metals in your digestive tract, capturing them so that your body eliminates them. But when you drink juice without those fibers, you body absorbs the juice — and everything in it — far more efficiently and quickly.

Thus, if your fresh juice is filled with pesticide chemicals, you will be rapidly absorbing pesticide chemicals the moment you start drinking the juice.

And yes, pesticide chemicals persist for a very long time. They survive sunlight, harvesting, cleaning and juicing. (And no, you can’t “wash off” all the pesticides because they are INSIDE the produce!) They even survive human digestion, which is why pesticides can be easily detected in urine and breast milk.

The answer? Only juice ORGANIC produce or things you’ve grown yourself

You should never juice fresh produce that has been produced with chemical pesticides. There are only two categories of things which are safe to juice:

1) Organic produce.
2) Produce you grow yourself.

This is why I grow so much of my own produce using the Food Rising Mini-Farm Grow Boxes I invented a couple of years ago. They use no electricity and no pumps, yet they grow huge quantities of beets, parsley, cilantro, strawberries and as much lettuce as you’d ever want to juice.

If you do juice non-organic produce, blend with organic produce fibers in a Vita-Mix

If you must juice non-organic produce, here’s the solution to protect yourself: Blend whole fruits in a Vita-Mix to get the fruit fibers into the juice, then combine with the juiced greens from your juicing machine.

Importantly, the organic fruit fibers will help block the pesticides during digestion. What are the best fruits for this? Strawberries, grapefruit and apples.

All three have powerful fibers with a strong affinity for pesticide chemicals. They serve as a kind of biological border against pesticide toxins, preventing some of them from being absorbed into your blood. (Yes, borders are a good thing when you need to keep the enemies out!)

Summary: Three crucial things to remember about juicing

#1) If you juice conventional produce, you’re just drinking a pesticide cocktail.

#2) Fruit and vegetable fibers block your body’s absorption of pesticide chemicals. (This is a strong argument for consuming whole foods, not just extracted juices, by the way.)

#3) If you must drink juice from conventional produce, mix it with fiber-rich organic whole foods blended in a Vita-Mix or other blender. The best “defender” foods are strawberries, grapefruit and apples. For defense against heavy metals, chlorella and peanut butter are also very effective.

Yes, I know what I’m talking about
